DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Just one week ago, the home at 5532 Richard Avenue in the Vickery Place neighborhood of Dallas looked much different.

Sure, it was an older home, but it was in an historic neighborhood. The vacant structure was about to be renovated.

Today, it just looks like a pile of toothpicks.

We reported last week that the company which mistakenly demolished the house has apologized and is working with the homeowners, Jeremy Wenninger and Robb Hagestad, who live in California, to make it right.

But there's nothing left of the house they remember.

Wenninger and Hagestad purchased the property after their long-time friend, Mary Ann Degataire, passed away a few years ago. They promised her they'd keep the house and renovate it. Now they won't get that chance.

"I can't tell you the emotional wreck this has caused," said Hagestad. "We've actually, both of us, shed tears over this."
