DALLAS (KRLD) - Police in Irving have arrested a suspect in the murder of an elderly woman. Police say 83-year-old Betty Thomas was killed on Thursday on East Cortez Court.

Officers were originally called to the area around 6:00 pm to investigate a report of an unconscious person. That's when they discovered Thomas' body.

They arrested 43-year-old Roy James Holden on Friday. Investigators are still trying to determine the motive for the crime, but say Holden did know Thomas prior to the attack.

"We do know that the suspect works for a utility service provider, and that is how he knew Ms. Thomas," said Irving Police Officer Officer Robert Reeves.

Police say the investigation is still on-going. They're asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Irving Police Department at 972-273-1010 or to submit a tip using email at ipdcrimetips@cityofirving.org
