FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A Lake Worth man was sentenced to probation for DWI -- but not for drinking alcohol.

In June of 2017, Brian Moore, 60, was captured on video driving very erratically, causing two accident scenes on Crowley Road near I-20.

At the time, Moore was under the influence of a prescription medication.

"This is someone who was taking a prescription for Ambien and had taken more than he should have," says Sam Jordan, a spokeswoman for the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. "Its entire purpose is for medicating you to go to sleep."

A jury convicted Moore of DWI, and Judge David Cook sentenced him to two years probation.

No one was seriously hurt in the twin crash scenes, and Jordan says that alone is miraculous.

"We're very, very lucky that no one was killed in this incident."

Jordan says when taking any medication, always look to see whether there is a warning that it may impair your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery.

"The medications have those warnings, but people just overlook them," says Jordan.
