Mark Cuban Says 'Nobody' Can Beat Trump 'Right Now'; Leaves Door Open For 2020 Independent Run

DALLAS (KRLD) - Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said in an interview Tuesday that he doesn't believe any of the Democratic candidates for president can beat President Trump.

Cuban made the comments in an interview with CNBC's ‘Fast Money Halftime Report.'

"Nobody right now," Cuban said when asked which candidate could beat Trump.

“Politicians are the least trusted of every profession,” Cuban said. “If you look at why people voted for Donald Trump, in my opinion, first and foremost it was because he wasn’t a politician.”

Cuban also didn't rule out a presidential run of his own in 2020.

"You haven't heard anything from me for a reason and we'll keep it that way," Cuban said initially. However, his answer to a follow-up question is what's getting national attention.

Question: "So, you're still considering it?"

"We'll see what happens. I've said it many times it would take the perfect storm for me to do it," the billionaire said. “There’s some things that could open the door, but I’m not projecting or predicting it right now."

Cuban went on to praise former VP Joe Biden but stressed that no candidate stands out to him.

If he did make a late push for president, Cuban said he would run as an independent.

“I still think there’s a real opportunity for somebody who is in the middle but has some charisma, has the ability to relate to both sides but is not a politician. The reality is people don’t trust politicians,” Cuban said.
