MESQUITE (1080 KRLD) - Police say someone made a threat against a high school and middle school, so they've got more officers at the campuses.

Mesquite Police say someone made non-specific threats against West Mesquite High School and Frazier Middle School, just saying 'an event' would happen on October 7th.

The Mesquite ISD says the threats do not appear to be credible, but they notified police immediately.

The source of the online threat was later identified by MPD Investigators as a student that attends Frasier Middle School. The student was taken into custody earlier this morning and has been charged with the offense of False Alarm/Report.

Mesquite police say safety and security of students and staff are a top priority, and they take every threat seriously. They say they're glad parents and staff called them.
