One of the largest coronavirus studies in the nation will be starting here in North Texas.

UT Southwestern will begin a trial to understand why African Americans and Latinos are more impacted by COVID-19 than others.

Amit Singal is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern and says they will randomly test 30,000 people from both Dallas and Tarrant Counties and 15,000 from selected businesses.

The researchers will reportedly keep tabs on those tested for up to one year.

Singal believes factors like jobs, living conditions and health are likely contributing to the disparity.
