DALLAS (KRLD) - Long before Patrick Mahomes was starring for the Kansas City Chiefs, and leading the team to their first Super Bowl in 50 years, he was playing for Whitehouse High School.

His head coach back in the day was Adam Cook, who is now the athletic director at the East Texas school.

Coach Cook just got a huge surprise, a ticket to see Patrick play in the Super Bowl this Sunday in Miami. But it's where he got the ticket from that makes it so special.

Up until the middle of last week, Coach Cook didn't know if he'd be able to go to the game, but former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who now is the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, stepped up and gave him a ticket. So Coach Cook will be in Miami to see Patrick Mahomes go for his first Super Bowl title.

And the gift inspired Coach Cook to write a moving letter. Not to Patrick, or even Kliff Kingsbury, but instead to Kliff's dad Tim, an old Texas high school football coach himself. Coach Cook posted that note to Tim Kingsbury on social media as a tribute to coaches everywhere, and the special bond created by Texas high school football.
