President Trump To Send Troops To Guard US Border Until Wall Is Built

April 03, 2018 - 1:10 pm

DALLAS (KRLD) - President Donald Trump says he is prepared to send troops to the US border in order to keep illegal immigrants from Honduras and other counties out of the United States.

President Trump made the comments on Twitter and later at a press conference with Baltic leaders.

"The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our “Weak Laws” Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!" Trump tweeted Tuesday.

In a press conference later Tuesday, Trump said they will deal with the migrant caravan "militarily" with the help from Mexico.

Trump added that Mexico has to help or else he won't do the NAFTA deal.

According to CNN, the annual event organized in Honduras is the largest they've ever had. The group, "Pueblo Sin Fronteras," or People Without Borders, crossed into Mexico on Sunday with more than 1,000 people ready to seek asylum and surrender at the US border.

CNN reports that it's very rare that someone gains asylum in the United States, however, it can take years for their cases to be heard.
