AUSTIN (1080 KRLD)- Dallas native Vanilla Ice, the rapper born as Robert Van Winkle, is catching some flak for his concert planned in Austin tomorrow night.

The graduate of R-L Turner High School in Carrollton planned to forge ahead with Friday's concert at Emerald Point Bar-and-Grill on Lake Travis which is classified as a restaurant because at least 51% of its sales come from food, meaning Governor Abbot's shut-down of bars did not apply.

Now, following immense backlash on social media, the rapper has postponed the show, tweeting that the increasing number of COVID-19 Cases was the reason for the cancelation. Only 84 tickets to the show were sold by the restaurant.

As of Thursday, no new date for the show has been scheduled.
