A new study still under review suggests immunity to the novel coronavirus may last no longer than a couple of months.

The research has not yet been published, but is included in a paper submitted to the pre-print server medRxiv. Scientists often release their findings in this way to inspire debate on a topic.

Researchers do not yet know how long COVID-19 antibodies last, or whether they are able to protect against re-infection. There have been documented cases of individuals being infected with COVID-19 more than once.

Global Biorisk Advisory Council Executive Director Patty Olinger is one of the nation's top experts on infectious diseases. She talked about the latest research on coronavirus immunity with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
