HUNSTVILLE (1080 KRLD) - The highest court in the land will not hear an appeal from a Texas death row inmate.

Rodney Reed has been on death row since 1998 for the abduction, rape and murder of a woman in Bastrop.

There has been a lot of speculation about his guilt and his attorneys say they have evidence that could prove he didn't do it.

Writing for the Supreme Court, justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote despite that, this "does not pass on the merits of Reed’s innocence or close the door to future review," She said "In my view, there is no escaping the pall of uncertainty over Reed’s conviction."

Reed was supposed to receive a lethal injection on November 20th of last year, but was issued an indefinite state of execution.
