TEXAS (1080 KRLD)- Their executive board meets this (Thursday) evening where they could decide to move their convention out of Houston and like Democrats go online.  Dr. Diana Fite, president of the Texas Medical is urging them to go virtual. giving the surge of cases in Houston.

She says it would be hard to say how many people would bring the virus with them to the convention.

"A lot of these attendees might be getting in to the older ages.  A lot might be quite young, but the ones who are older are more at risk, if they do get Covid, of having a more serious case."

Fite is an emergency room physician and has worked with Covid patients.  She says they're seeing a lot more patients than in the spring.  She says the only silver lining is most of them are younger and in a better position to have a good outcome.

The Republican state convention is scheduled for July 16th through the 18th at the George R Brown Convention Center.
