DENTON (KRLD) - A silent protest was held at UNT today after a faculty member's resignation for using a racial slur.
Over 100 students packed the Board of Regents meeting.
Last week, former assistant general counsel Caitlin Sewell resigned after she used a racial slur during a campus panel on freedom of speech.
The SGA organized the sit-in in conjunction with the UNT Black Student Union and the UNT chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
The groups are making other demands, including mandatory sensitivity training for all staff members, requiring cultural sensitivity classes for all incoming freshmen and to hire a more culturally diverse staff.
