DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - It's not often that the Texas and New York agree on anything, but they may team up to take on the biggest tech companies in the world.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and New York Attorney General Letitia James will announce formal antitrust probes into Facebook and Google's parent company Alphabet as early as Monday.

In all, 36 states may end up joining the investigations.

The Justice Department is already working on a federal investigation into how they may be too big and are hurting competition.

If that probe happens, Paxton would be the lead investigator into how Google may have an iron claw into the world of digital ads. James would lead the probe into how Facebook teases users into giving out their personal information.
