WEATHERFORD (1080 KRLD) - A massive theft ring is busted in Parker County, and three people are under arrest.

"They have been a thorn in our side for quite some time," says Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler, referring to Bradley and Vickie Barbay of Azle. "They were stealing all those (commercial truck) filters and batteries."

The total value of those filters and batteries they allegedly stole is more than $500,000.

Fowler says the couple had a creative way of getting into the businesses to pull off the thefts.

"They would go down in another gate in an adjacent property and then put their own lock on the gate," Fowler says.

Investigators had been looking for them for months until they got some much-needed help from some of the business owners.

"They happened to stay out there that night recently, and they saw what they were doing," says Sheriff Fowler; "and they called the sheriff’s office, and we were able to get them all in custody."

Fowler says the Barbays sold the parts they stole to Ruben Reyes, who would then sell those parts in Mexico.

The Barbays are behind bars in the Parker County Jail, while Reyes was arrested in Tarrant County.
