DALLAS (KRLD) - Governor Greg Abbott says more businesses may re-open and more services can resume under Phase Two of his plan for re-opening the state's economy.

The Governor is allowing water parks in Texas to re-open effective Friday, May 29th at 25 percent of their normal capacity. That follows the decision by operators of a water park just north of Houston to open over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Shopping mall food courts can begin operating immediately, as long as they adhere to certain sanitation requirements designed to limit the spread of COVID-19. They will need to keep a distance of six feet between different tables. Staffers will also have to clean and disinfect tables each time they are used.

Driver education programs can also begin operating immediately.

Recreational sports programs for adults can resume practices on Sunday, May 31st. Games for those recreational leagues can resume on June 15th.

Dr. Diana Cervantes with UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth is encouraging people to take some precautions to limit their risk of contracting COVID-19, whether they're participating in sports or watching games in-person.

"If we want to go and do things that involve sports, are we going to keep things in a very small group - people that maybe are a trusted close circle of people that we know have been sheltering in place? They don't have any high-risk positions or jobs," she said. "For example they're not physicians or nurses. Not to exclude them, but just keep in mind that people who do have certain jobs are at higher risk of being infected - and people can be infected and not have signs or symptoms and can transmit the virus."
