DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Perhaps it's not surprising considering Texas is the second largest state in terms of area. But last year, we had more lightning strikes than any other state.

The data are compiled by a Finnish company called Vaisala which says Texas recorded more than 47,000,000 strikes - three times more than Oklahoma, the second state on the list.

In addition to the size of the state, Texas has a lot of humidity and a geographic location that makes thunderstorms more likely.
