DALLAS (KRLD) - Houston Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia is back in Texas commenting about the upcoming Senate Impeachment trial.

Garcia is one of the seven Impeachment managers selected by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to make the case why they believe President Trump is guilty of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The former municipal judge and Texas State Senator took questions from reporters at a press conference Friday morning in Houston. “The team that Speaker Pelosi has put together is a very very strong team. We all represent the great diversity of our country; not only geographically, but in terms of talent,” said Garcia.

She went on to talk about the strength of their case against the President. “This President picked up the phone, called a foreign government and asked for help, to put it bluntly, cheat in an election. We cannot stand for that. That is not what our country is all about.”

Garcia did say she’s confident that the evidence is enough to prove the President was in violation of both articles of impeachment brought forth from the US House of Representatives. “Basically (he’s) already confessed…if you look at the GAO report they found that what he did was illegal in holding back the funds (from Ukraine). There’s so much there…so we’ll let the jurors decide, but we’re going to make our case and I believe it’s going to be a very strong case.”

Garcia admitted she won’t know the role she’ll play in making the case for the impeachment and removal of President Trump from office until the team of managers meet back in Washington DC on Sunday.
