Uber To Open Dallas Office, Largest Hub Outside Its San Francisco Headquarters

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - It’s official! Uber will open an office of at least 3,000 employees in Deep Ellum and plans to turn Dallas into its largest hub outside of its San Francisco headquarters.

Uber will hire or relocate about 400 employees to Dallas by the end of the year. It will move into a tower on the edge of downtown Dallas in July 2020 and then into a taller tower on the same site about two years later.

Governor Greg Abbott says the decision speaks to the innovation an technology talent that is moving to Dallas.

"I am proud to welcome Uber's investment in the great state of Texas, along with the 3,000 jobs the company will bring it its new Dallas office," said Governor Abbott. "This investment will bolster Texas' continued economic success and reputation as the best state for business. Our unrivaled workforce and business-friendly environment makes Texas the perfect home for innovative companies like Uber." 

"Dallas became the first city in Texas were the Uber app was available in 2012, and since then Texas has been a hub of innovation for our platform," said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber.
