HOUSTON (1080 KRLD) - NFL player Michael Bennett has been indicted by a Harris County Grand Jury for the charge of injury of the elderly.

According to the Harris County District Attorney's office, Michael Bennett was in town to watch his brother Martellus, a player for the New England Patriots, at Super Bowl 51 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Records say following the game, Bennett "shoved his way on to the field" where players were gathering to celebrate. Bennett allegedly ignored stadium personell's commands to use another way onto the field. In the process, Bennett shoved a 66-year-old paraplegic woman who was working at the stadium, injuring her.

The charge, injury to the elderly, includes intentionally and knowingly, causing bodily injury to a person 65 years or older.

It carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

A warrant has been issued for Bennett’s arrest. Prosecutors are working with Bennett’s attorney regarding his surrender.
