DALLAS (KRLD) - For the first time in more than a year, the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area is completely free of drought conditions.

According to the latest map released Thursday by the U.S. Drought Monitor, Dallas, Tarrant, Parker, Denton, Collin, Rockwall, Kaufman, Ellis and Johnson counties all fall into the "no drought" category.  It's the first time those conditions have existed in all nine counties since September 12, 2017.

As shown in this side-by-side comparison, North Texas was dealing with its worst drought conditions in several years just a couple of months ago:

With more rain expected this weekend and especially into early next week, the situation is likely to remain positive for the local area.
