North Texas Housing Market Slowing

December 20, 2018 - 8:34 am

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The once hot North Texas housing market continues to slow, with November sales recording the biggest decline in seven years.

Overall sales were down nearly eight percent in November, but Dallas, Collin and Denton counties saw double digit declines. S

ales were down in Dallas and Collin counties by more than 14 percent. Denton County saw sales drop by more than 10 percent.

Experts say one reason is due to the shortage of affordable housing, that is homes priced less than $200,000, those are homes that attract first time buyers.

Another reason for the slow down is more houses are on the market. In Dallas County for example the number of homes up for sale is up 29 percent compared to last year.
