DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A north Texas woman will be getting a kidney transplant live on Facebook.

20-year-old Jessica Gutierrez of Cedar Hill was in stage 4 kidney failure when she found out her mom was a match.

Methodist Dallas will begin broadcasting the kidney transplant live on their Facebook page at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Dr. Richard Dickerman says this operation will be a little different. "I've done over 3,000 of these procedures, so I'm no rookie. But I've never done one live before," he says.

Dickerman says they want to bring attention to the need for organ donation.

"You can donate a kidney to someone and have a totally normal life afterward. At the same time you can save the life of the person you are giving it to" said Dr. Dickerman.

Gutierrez says her mother is giving her life for the second time.
