DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A North Texas police officer put himself at risk to educate the public about the dangers of being left in a hot car.

Hickory Creek Officer Lane sat in a squad car parked outside for 45 minutes, before the heat became too much for him.

A fellow officer documented Lane's experience through several Facebook live videos.

Lane said his vision was wobbly and he had a headache by the time he got out of the car, but he should be okay.

Hickory Creek officers say they hope that by watching the videos, people will realize just how the extreme heat can kill.

In Texas, two children have already died this year from being left in hot cars. Both were each less than a year old.
