One Person Fatally Shot In Downtown Dallas Friday Evening, Police Arrest One

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) -  Dallas Police have made an arrest following a shooting in downtown Dallas Friday night. 

Dallas Police said the shooting was a confrontation between two groups of people, and started near the intersection of Elm Street and North Lamar Street. Shots were fired at Elm Street and North Griffin Street. 

Once officers arrived to the scene, there was a man dead at a bus stop. He was not involved with the two groups, and was an innocent bystander waiting at the bus stop. 

The second man who was shot was taken to Baylor Hospital, was involved in the confrontaion, according to police. 

Dallas Police have arrested 24-year-old Derrick Florence, Jr. and is being charged with manslaughter. Detectives have identified a second shooter but he is still at large. 

Griffin Street, between Main Street and Pacific in both directions will remain closed Saturday during this investigation.


Sources say the man killed in crossfire in downtown Dallas was homeless.

Another person was grazed in face and leg. One person is in police custody. 

Dallas Police are still searching for the second suspect.


Dallas Police confirmed that one male is dead and another individual, in unknown condition, was transported to a hospital. 

Dallas Police have closed Griffin Street, between Main Street and Pacific in both directions as they continue their investigation. There is no information about any arrests, and no officers were injured.


One person is dead after a shooting in downtown Dallas, near the Crowne Plaza Hotel. 

According to police, the shooting happened after a group of men started arguing.
