DALLAS (KRLD) - A dog is safe in her owners' arms again after a police chase spanning several cities comes to an end.

Dallas police say this started with a carjacking at a scrap yard off Westmoreland and I-30. Just after nine Friday morning, a suspect forced a driver to get out of their truck and then drove away after trying to run over that owner.

Little did the carjacker know a small dog named Mia was still in the truck with him.

The chase lasted about 30 minutes and the truck finally stopped along I-35 near Corinth Parkway. Mia was reunited with her owner Norman Junge, who says he was worried.

"My wife was watching on Facebook and wasn't doing well. She kept telling me what was happening. We saw the dog at the window. I was concerned that he was going to toss the dog out the window during the chase," Junge says.

He's just happy to have Mia back.

"This dog goes everywhere with me. When I get up, she's ready to go. She's a shop dog, everyone knows her at the shop."

The suspect was arrested without incident and nobody was hurt.
