Parker Co. Man Allegedly Stabs Dog

July 25, 2018 - 4:58 pm

CRESSON (1080 KRLD) - A Parker County man is under arrest for allegedly stabbing a dog.

The Parker County Sheriff's Office says Matthew Shane Clements, 30, of Cresson got mad at the female pit bull named Zina because she was in heat.

"Other dogs began sniffing at the female," says Deputy Danie Huffman, "and he told them no and swatted them away. And that's when the female dog snapped at him."

And that's when Clements allegedly stabbed Zina.

"He went to the neighbor's home and told them to call the cops because he put the knife through the dog's head," says Deputy Huffman.

Zina might not make a full recovery.

"After a full examination by a local veterinarian, the tip was left in her skull," says Huffman. "She's unable to be operated on due to the location of the tip. It's right above her eyebrow on her right eye."

And Huffman says removing the tip would be a life-threatening procedure.

Zina is in foster care with someone with veterinary experience.

Other dogs at the home have been surrendered.

Clements is charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals; torture.

He remains behind bars. Bond has not been set yet.
