DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man police say tried to burglarize a Dallas auto parts store, before he was fatally shot by the owner.

It happened on June 25. Police responded to Gabby Hall Auto Parts, in the 8300 block of C.F. Hawn Freeway. There, they found that business owner had shot an unknown Latin male burglar.

He told police that while checking on his property, he encountered the burglar in an enclosed area not open to the public. He shot and killed the burglar during the confrontation. He was released pending a ruling from a Dallas County grand jury.

Thursday, police released a sketch of the burglar, including a depiction of tattoos on the man's torso. They include a cross on his abdomen and the letters "J.R." on his upper arm.
