WASHINGTON (KRLD) - President Trump has nominated a Texan to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson served as White House physician for more than a decade. He's a native of Levelland, near Lubbock, and a graduate of Texas A&M University. Jackson got his medical degree from the University of Texas.

If confirmed by the Senate, Jackson will replace David Shulkin, fired after being caught up in a scandal over a taxpayer-funded trip to Europe.
