President Trump Sets Texas Rally For Sen. Ted Cruz

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - President Donald Trump will visit Texas next week to support the re-election campaign of Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

The President will hold a "Make America Great Again" rally on Monday, October 22nd at NRG Arena in Houston.

Trump and Cruz had traded insults during the Republican Party Primaries ahead of the 2016 election, when both men were seeking their party's nomination for President. After Trump won the nomination. Senator Cruz eventually issued a statement endorsing him.

President Trump endorsed Senator Cruz's re-election bid earlier this year. Senator Cruz is facing a challenge from Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke in the November 6th general election.

President Trump had posted a message on Twitter in August that he would hold a "major rally" for Senator Cruz in "the biggest stadium in Texas we can find".

NRG Arena in Houston seats 8,000 and has a pavilion that holds 2,000.

The President's rally on October 22nd falls on the first day of early voting in Texas for the November 6th Senate election.
