AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - The push to remove a confederate plaque from the state capital is gaining some traction.

Installed in 1959, the "Children of the Confederacy Creed" plaque claims the civil war was not about slavery.

Expected incoming Texas speaker of the House Dennis Bonnen called the plaque historically inaccurate and says he stands by those who have called for its removal.

Dallas State representative Eric Johnson has led the charge take it off the wall

An opinion from the Texas Attorney general says the curator of the capital could approve Johnson's request and take it down right away.
