(FM 101.9) - A family was found in the Netherlands hiding out in their cellar, awaiting the end of the world.

According to BBC News, the family, who consisted of a 58 year old man and six adult children ranging in age from 16 to 25, stated they were waiting for the end of times. The discovery was made when a 25-year-old man escaped.

Upon re-entering the world, the 25-year-old man made his way to a local pub in Ruinerworld and ordered five beers. He struck up a conversation with the bar owner, who soon learned of the man's unique situation.

BBC News reports that Chris Westerbeek, owner of the bar, said, " I had a chat with him and he revealed he had run away and needed help...then we called the police."

He went on to describe the man's appearance. "He had long hair, a dirty beard, wore old clothes and looked confused. He said he'd never been to school and hadn't been to the barber for nine years," Westerbeek explained.

Police later investigated the property, which contained a farmhouse with a tucked-away staircase leading to the cellar where the 58-year-old man and six siblings all lived. The 58-year-old was arrested after refusing to cooperate.

Neighbors of the property recall only ever seeing one man on the land with several animals, but no children.

Police in Drenthe have revealed that there are still a lot of information to uncover from the situation. "We still have many unanswered questions," they said, adding that the investigation was fully underway.
