Police Mourn the 'Senseless Loss' of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts That Fell From Truck
Streets in Georgia were paved with glaze after a recent Krispy Kreme doughnut spillage.
When a truck carrying Krispy Kreme doughnuts accidentally scattered them on the road, Brookhaven Police officers documented the carnage on Facebook.
“Just moments ago, your Brookhaven Police officers answered the call each of us fears most,” the Facebook post began.
Details of the accident aren’t for the faint of heart – dozens of donuts fell off of a delivery truck along Peachtree Road and could not be salvaged.
“BPD rushed to the scene, but to no avail. We found total carnage; donuts scattered along the curb and into gutter - THE GUTTER, people!” the devastated post continued.
The officers credited their stellar response time but added that it still wasn’t enough as they “couldn’t beat the 5-second-rule.”
“We are deeply saddened to report that the donuts were a total loss. As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time, and the senseless loss of these delicious pastries has deeply affected all of our officers,” they continued.
They summed up the post with one simple request: “We ask that you keep our department in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn this terrible moment.”
Following the incident, the distraught Brookhaven police officers were surprised with a box of doughnuts courtesy of fellow officers.
They posted a follow-up Facebook post – this time much more lighthearted – writing, “Shout out to our friends at Gainesville Police Department for this amazing batch of sympathy doughnuts.”
There’s nothing a box of doughnuts can't fix.
