GRAND PRAIRIE (KRLD) - Water levels are rising at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie. Flooding has blocked access to the Lynne Creek Marina and the Oasis restaurant on the lake.

"We're constantly watching the level of the lake, currently we're about 7 feet over our normal level," said Duane Strawn, Assistant Director of the Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Department.

"We are seeing flooding in our lake parks and the Lynn Creek Marina where the parking lots are underwater.  They have a skeleton crew making sure things are safe and that people aren't going where they aren't supposed to. For the public, it's going to be closed for a while."

The water levels could rise another three feet as north Texas deals with additional rain. The level of the lake is managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

"The lake is for flood control," said Strawn. "Once the rain event is over and they start releasing water, hopefully, Joe Pool will come back down."
