Thousands Of Gallons Of Raw Sewage Headed Toward White Rock Lake

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Nearly one million gallons of untreated sewage is making its way down White Rock Creek after a contractor's mistake.

According to reports, a contractor was drilling holes for awnings at a car dealership in an area between Plano Road and 75 Central Expressway Wednesday afternoon when he hit one of the North Texas Municipal Water District's sewer line.

Denise Hickey says it was a mess. Crews were immediately called in to repair the lines, and now they are cleaning it up.

"It includes any kind of cleanup as a repair to the wastewater line" said Hickey. "And any debris that would have flowed from the wastewater line to the neighboring area."

Hickey says creek water will dilute the sewage but it will ultimately flow into White Rock Lake.
