Santa Fe Students Return As Politicians Work To Keep Schools Safe

SOUTH TEXAS (1080 KRLD) - Students at Sante Fe schools return to class today for the first time since the May 18th masscre at the high school.

10 people were killed in that shooting, and today there will be extra security on campuses and counselores will also be available for students and teachers.

Meanwhile, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is working with the Feds to help come up with money to help maker Texas schools safer.

Last week, Governor Abbott explained how step one of the round table discussions was to develop school safety solutions; things like new entryways, more mental health counselors, even a threat assessment program.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn is now hopeful that the Feds can help out.
