DALLAS (KRLD) - International researchers say the new species is related to the duck-billed dinosaur and lived about 80 million years ago in Big Bend National Park. It's southeast of El Paso.

Texas Tech professor Tom Lehman found the fossil in the 1980's. But, researchers could not analyze it until recently.

Don Corrick is the Park Geologist with Big Bend National Park. He says, "This is going to happen in the future at technology changes. Now, we can do CAT scans on fossils that we couldn't do 30 or 40 years ago."

The findings are published in the Journal of Systematic Palaeontology.
