RED OAK (1080 KRLD) - A shoplifting suspect was shot after he left a Wal-Mart in Red Oak Monday night.

Police say the man was seen shoplifting at the store near I-35E and East Ovilla Road around 11:15 pm.

Police say several employees confronted Max Pryor, 33, as he tried to leave the store. Police say another shopper also intervened.

The other shopper left and got into his car with his family. Police say Pryor went to his car and started following the other shopper.

When the other shopper stopped, police say Pryor walked up and opened the driver's side door. Police say the other shopper pulled a gun and shot Pryor.

Pryor was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

No one else was hurt, and police say the man who shot Pryor stopped and has been cooperating with investigators.

Red Oak police say Pryor has a history of theft.
