SOUTH DAKOTA (KRLD) - A South Dakota elementary school has purchased 17 ukuleles for its music program, thanks in part to a group of anonymous Texas fans of the music group, The Eagles.

Warner Elementary School teacher Jennifer Barkmeier wants to use the ukuleles to introduce students to string instruments. Her online fundraising effort was $200 from reaching its goal when fans of the band stepped in and closed the project out.

The community of fans left a note saying they make donations to projects which exemplify the band's spirit and promote music education.

The group says the ukulele was Eagles co-founder Don Henley's first instrument.

Barkmeier promises she will teach her students an Eagles song.
