SOUTHLAKE (1080 KRLD) - It was an emotional meeting in Southlake today, as frustrated parents spoke out about a racist video that featured several students.

The video circulated through social media last week, showing students chanting a racial slur. The Carroll ISD school board held the special meeting for concerned parents to speak their minds.

Many are calling on each other to simply be better.

"We know better, we can do better, let's teach better," one parent said

Parents say this is not the first time that racism has been an issue in Carroll ISD, or in Southlake itself. They're pushing for more diversity training across the district. Carroll ISD has promised they'll take parents' input into consideration as they move forward.

The students in the video have reportedly been punished, though the district is not specifying how.
