SOUTHLAKE (1080 KRLD) - Police in Southlake are looking for a man and a woman who stole a woman's purse, then used her credit cards to buy thousands of dollars worth of gift cards.

They have dubbed one of the suspects the "swole swindler" on social media.

The victim was shopping at the Home Goods store on North Kimball on May 22nd when the couple stole her wallet out of her purse.

"She left her purse kind of open on the shopping cart, and these guys walked by and took her wallet," said Officer Brad Uptmore. They used the woman's credit card and identification to buy gift cards at the Apple Store, Nordstrom Rack and Best Buy. They then used those gift cards to purchase purses and jewelry at the Hurst Nordstrom Rack store.

The victim's bank detected the suspicious activity on her cards and notified her, but by then the suspects had escaped. Police are hoping someone recognizes them from surveillance photos. They have posted those photos on the Southlake DPS social media accounts along with humorous descriptions of the suspects.

The male suspect is in his late 20's and about 6 feet tall. Police describe him as "super jacked" and say he was wearing horn-rimmed glasses.

Investigators say this incident is a reminder to "police your purse".

"People tend to put purses where the child seat is on the shopping cart, and it's so easy for these people when you walk away from it for a nanosecond to reach in, grab it and go," said Officer Uptmore.
