FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Stanley Black & Decker Inc. is planning a distribution center in the AllianceTexas development near Alliance Airport.

The distribution center will cover 1.2 million square feet, and construction started before the company announced plans to move in.

The distribution center should be ready next month and will be part of the 260 acre Alliance Northport development at Interstate 35W and Highway 114 in Northlake.

"We've got land available for more than 36 million square feet of future industrial projects," says Tony Creme, senior vice president of Hillwood Properties.

Creme says the area has become so popular, Hillwood has built speculative projects to have space available for companies to move in immediately.

"You can't build a building overnight. You can't push a button on your smart phone and have a warehouse show up the next day," he says. "We look at our spec building program as kind of an 'on demand' warehouse. Having that building on the ground, ready to go so when a customer shows up and needs to start operating immediately, that shell is ready to get them in and start operating right away."

Already, Creme says Hillwood has started construction on the next development of one million square feet in the same area. He says access to different transportation options to reach the entire world are bringing companies to the area around Alliance.

"If you've been on I-35 recently from downtown to Alliance, you'll notice it's a massive highway. The traffic profile has drastically changed," he says. "You have direct access to 35 north-south, 114 and 170 east-west, the BNSF intermodal facility links us to the west coast ports of L.A. and Long Beach. Then Alliance Airport can get you anywhere in the world."

Creme also says that part of AllianceTexas has one of the lowest combined tax rates in North Texas.
