State Senator Believes Caraway Scandal Will Lead To Other Government Officials

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A North Texas state Senator says he believes former Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway is a very tiny player, in a vast web of corruption.

State Senator Don Huffines tells 1080 KRLD he expects that disgraced fomer Dallas City councilman Caraway pleading guilty to corruption charges, and resigning, will lead investigators to other government officials who made deals with the company, Force Multiplier Solutions.

"I fully anticipate more guilty pleas, more people going to jail or getting indicted on the County school issue" said Huffines. "I think the best place to look is the school board for Dallas County Schools, the DISD school board and the Dallas City Council."

A long-time consultant to the company, which provided cameras for now-defunct Dallas County Schools' buses, pleaded guilty to money laundering.

Caraway pleaded guilty Thursday to federal corruption charges, admitting that he took nearly half a million dollars in bribes and kickbacks tied to the Dallas County Schools scandal. He is facing up to 7 years in prison and fines.

Huffines was one of the most vocal opponents of Dallas County Schools, calling for its dissolution.
