There's just something about driving off the lot in your brand-new car.  But for some owners, those feelings quickly turn to remorse and regret.

A new study from looks at the vehicles Dallas-area residents are most likely to give up in the first year of ownership:

1.  Mercedes-Benz C-Class - 11.1% resold within first year

2.  Volvo XC60 - 10.1%

3.  BMW 3 Series - 9.1%

4.  Nissan Titan - 9.1%

5.  Nissan Versa Note - 8.9%

There are various reasons some owners decide to swap vehicles so quickly.'s Julie Blackley said, "One of them, we believe, is that they can't keep up with the car payments."  She pointed out the top three vehicles on the list are all entry-level luxury vehicles.  Blackley added reliability can also be a factor in some cases.

In the national survey from, BMW was the auto brand most likely to be given up in the first year of ownership.  The top three trucks owners most often give up within one year are all Nissan models.

And when it comes to nearly-new, "gently-used" vehicles hitting the market, Blackley said some may find a tremendous opportunity.  "They do become great deals in the used car marketplace.  You can save on the depreciation, and the car will likely still have that new car smell."

By the way, the sports cars most often sold off in the first year of ownership are the Nissan 370Z, Porsche 911 and Chevrolet Corvette.
