DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The woman believed to have planned the September 2015 murder of an Uptown Dallas Dentist is on trial for capital murder.

Brenda Delgado is believed to have set up the assassination of Dr. Kendra Hatcher because she was jealous the dentist was dating her ex-boyfriend.

Delgado and her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Ricky Panagua, had dated for a little more than a year when Panagua said he broke off their relationship. He began dating Hatcher, a pediatric dentist who worked in the Uptown area of Dallas. Witnesses said Delgado was not ready to let it go, stalking Hatcher and trying to hire friends and acquaintances to murder the dentist.

Two people stand convicted of the murder. Last year, a jury convicted Kristopher Love and sentenced him to death, partly based on the testimony of co-defendant Crystal Cortes. Prosecutors say Cortes was hired to drive Love to Hatcher's apartment garage, where she was shot in the head on September 2, 2015.

Cortes took a plea deal and is also to testify against Delgado.

A friend of Delgado's told the jury that Delgado was obsessed with Hatcher and talked about her nonstop. Roberto Menendez said Delgado also tried to convinced him to buy her a gun, but he refused.
