Suspected Arrested Following Hours Long Standoff In Garland

GARLAND (1080 KRLD) - A stand off that lasted more than four hours ended peacefully this morning when the suspect surrendered.

It started around 9:00 p.m. Thursday when Garland Police went to a home on Meridian Way, just east of Country Club Road to serve a warrant.

Officials say the suspect was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to police he had threatened someone with a shotgun a few days earlier.

The suspect barricaded himself inside the home with a woman and three kids.

SWAT teams were called in and he finally surrendered around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

No one was hurt. The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
