FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - After 18 months of renovations, the Tarrant Area Food Bank is ready to provide North Texans in need with fresher, healthier meals.

Mayors from Fort Worth, Burleson, White Settlement and North Richland Hills will be at the Food Bank in Fort Worth this evening to check out the upgraded facility.

The Food Bank has tripled its refrigerator space to store more fresh produce and  doubled its freezer space to make room for more lean meats and other healthy foods.

The volunteer work space has also been expanded.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank provides more than half a million meals every week to people in need.
