Spend Father’s Day Weekend at the Dallas Arboretum. (6/16-17) There are several local breweries onsite offering sample beer tastings, a demonstration for a brat grilling lesson, and live music. Be sure to also check out the 45-minute outdoor education flight training show with birds. At the end of the show meet and greet with the birds and their trainers.

Dallas Arboretum Cool Thursdays this week features Rio, the world’s premiere Duran Duran tribute band. The guys span the band’s catalogue from Planet Earth to Electric Barbarella. Rio is currently the only high profile, full-time working Duran Duran tribute band in the United States.

Shakespeare Dallas performs two comedies for its 2018 season of Shakespeare in the Park. The summer 2018 season will include Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors and Taming of the Shrew, performed in repertory from June 6 – July 15 at Samuell Grand Amphitheater, located at 1500 Tenison Parkway, Dallas 75223. All summer performances begin at 8:15 p.m.

The Comedy of Errors will perform on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays from June 6 (Preview Performance) – July 15, and will be directed by Mr. Parry. Taming of the Shrew will run Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from June 13 (Preview Performance) – July 13, and will be directed by Ms. Stewart.

Motorcycle riders around North Texas will join bike riders from around the world for the tenth annual Allied Memorial Remembrance Ride Saturday morning at 10am (June 16) to honor fallen heroes from the allied forces anywhere in the world.

The Sheriff Departments in Dallas and Kaufman Counties provide escort for riders coming in from Fort Worth and Dallas, led by George S. Sherman... a 27 year Air Force veteran and Fort Worth resident, who belonged to the Royal British Legion in honor of his grandfather who served in the British Army in World War II and his father, a veteran of Vietnam and member of the American Legion. 

Learn how the Army Medical Department strived to improve and maintain soldiers’ health during World War I with Dr. Sanders Marble at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday June 14) at the Allen Public Library, 300 N. Allen Dr.   Honoring Flag Day, the program will open with a medley of patriotic music performed by members of the Allen Community Band. Call 214-509-4911. 

The Vinyl Stripes will shake, rattle and roll Allen Public Library’s auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 15. This eclectic band evokes memories of carhops, Coke stands and Rockabilly performers like Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. This is a free concert.  Call 214-509-4911.

Check out the local music scene this weekend! See the debut of Texas Strut at the Blackhorse Saloon Friday night (6/15). They’re a mix of rock, country and blues with some Texas swing thrown in there.

Raw Acoustic returns to the LION & CROWN in Addison this Saturday, 6/16 at 9:30 pm for a ROUSING performance of their modern/classic RAWK!  Come out and enjoy excellent food, drink & service at this English Country Pub that offers a pet-friendly patio in the heart of Addison Circle!
