DALLAS (NBC DFW) - A Tarrant County jury Wednesday sentenced a man to life behind bars for the brutal attack on a little girl who was beaten so badly as she walked to her school bus stop she required a heart transplant to save her life.

Terry Wayne King, a truck driver, was found guilty of assault causing bodily injury to a child and attempted aggravated kidnapping on Tuesday.

The girl, who was 12-years-old at the time of the 2018 attack, appeared in court Monday where she came face-to-face with King and said he was a "bad man."

Police said the vicious attack near the school bus stop was unprovoked and the motive was unknown.

The girl was able to escape the attack and make it to the bus stop where she boarded her school bus and told the driver what happened.
