Tex-DOT To Close Busy Stretch Of I-30 In Arlington, Grand Prairie This Weekend

November 09, 2018 - 12:12 am

A major North Texas interstate will be closed through the weekend, beginning tonight.

After rush hour this evening, Tex-DOT will close down both directions of I-30 near Highway 360 in Arlington and Grand Prairie.

That's the stretch where crews are building that massive new multi-layer interchange near Six Flags.

The Highway 360 bridge will be removed between tonight and Monday morning.

Since that stretch of I-30 runs right through the heart of the Arlington entertainment district, Tex-DOT had to find a weekend that would have the lightest impact on the major venues.

This weekend was chosen because the Cowboys are out-of-town, the Rangers are in the off-season, Hurricane Harbor is closed and Six Flags is not yet open for Holiday In The Park.

The Arlington Convention And Visitors Bureau's Decima Mullen says this weekend is one of the rare times all year when there's no major event in the Entertainment District.

The closure will run from Collins to Highway 161 with the marked detour along Division Street in Arlington and Main Street in Grand Prairie.

Traffic taking Highway 360 to I-30 will also be affected, taking the Division Street exit to follow the detour.
